Linguaskill is an online which assesses all four language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking, certificated English proficiency exam. It uses the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and computer-adaptive testing technology so that you can easily and securely test groups of candidates to get accurate and fast results.
The exam has built-in advanced security technology, and certification to the highest level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). It can be used for high-stakes purposes such as student admission or graduation at university or recruiting and developing staff in your organisation.
Test Format
+ Reading: 40 mins approx. Maximum test length is 59 mins.
+ Listening: 40 mins approx. Maximum test length is 59 mins.
Both Reading and Listening modules are adaptive, so there are not a fixed number of questions. Each question the candidate answers helps the computer to understand their level better and select an appropriate next task for the candidate’s performance at that point in the test. The test finishes when the candidate has answered enough questions for Linguaskill to identify their level accurately.
+ Writing: 55 mins
The Writing module asks candidates to input answers using a computer keyboard. Answers are marked by an examiner.
+ Speaking: 5 sections 16 mins
The Speaking module is taken using a computer with a microphone and headphones. Questions are presented to the candidate through the computer screen and headphones, and their responses are recorded.
Linguaskill Speaking and Linguaskill Business Speaking are assessed by human examiners and market-leading auto-marking technology, known as hybrid marking.

Note: The Reading and Listening sample tests are not adaptive and are shorter than a real test. The Speaking sample test requires a headphone set and microphone.
